Speculation about the first first panel. The standing person is holding something that might be a saw, so maybe they had promised to cut down a tree that's a pest species or is interfering with water pipes but is housing a bird nest?
It does look like a saw. It's meant to be a bag.
That was my second guess, but I didn't have a story for that one!
