Lee Lai: advice on writing
Drawings from a talk at Comics Art Workshop
These are notes from a talk Lee Lai gave at Comics Art Workshop in October. She spoke about structure, editing and dialogue.
She then took us through a dialogue exercise where we made the first panel of a comic and in pairs had to work out as much information as we could from the other’s comic.
Here are mine. We only had 15 minutes so I’ve left them manky. Feel free to speculate about what’s going on in each one. What do you know?
Speculation about the first first panel. The standing person is holding something that might be a saw, so maybe they had promised to cut down a tree that's a pest species or is interfering with water pipes but is housing a bird nest?
