Kia ora koutou,
Today I made some unfortunate scheduling choices - I had a couple of back-to-back sessions, across town from each other (I can ride from Meow to National Library pretty fast but not instantaneously). This means I missed the start of “Women in Clothes” and “Tui, Tui, Tuiā”. Sorry about that.
Things I Learned in Art School: Megan Dunn in conversation with Kim Hill about her essay collection. Topics include, mermaids, sex work, Karl Ove and student loans.
Women in Clothes: Claire Regnault (Te Papa curator) talks to Jesse Bray Sharpin about her book, Dressed: Fashionable Dress in Aotearoa New Zealand 1840 - 1910.
Girl of New Zealand: Michelle Erai in conversation with April Henderson about her book, Girl of New Zealand: Colonial Optics in Aotearoa. Topics include, complicity, March 15th (the book is dedicated to the victims of the shooting and their families) and the violence of images.
Tui, Tui, Tuiā: Renée, Whiti Hereaka, Matariki Williams, Anahera Gildea and Nadine Anne Hura discuss knitting and writing.
And that’s Verb 2021!
Mā te wā,
Nāku, noa nā Tara
